We are a family of women who work together to stay sober, work a program, work with a sponsor, maintain a job, attend meetings, participate in House activities as part of a transition into a lifelong, productive journey down the road of happy destiny.
Who do we serve?
Currently we operate one home for women in the Austin area.
Who is our ideal candidate?
A person who is serious about changing her life and living sober; who wants the opportunity for growth and is building a better future. Someone who is willing to work their Program, be accountable and wants to be a part of a family of women who are moving in the same direction.
House "Psychology"
R House is a managed sober living house. The House Manager enjoys privileges that she has earned as a result of long term sobriety and participation with the home. She has been selected by the R House board to lead by example and will ensure that the policies and procedures of the House are respected. There are some issues on which house members can vote, but Rules and Regulations of the home are not up for discussion. Neither is idle gossip about house members tolerated. Women are expected to openly and respectfully communicate with one another and work out their differences either with or without the aide of the house manager.
House Features
R House is a clean and safe homes in which to live. We feature cable t.v., a computer station with high speed internet, and telephone. Some rooms are shared, but others are private. R House is close to bus routes and has a large yard perfect for bar-b-ques. The House is well furnished and bedding is provided. Some staples such as toilet paper, coffee and filters are provided while current residents tend to offer help to members who are temporarily indigent. A small amount of storage is available to be determined case-by-case by the house manager.
